God Sons

My God Sons live in Texas. Most of our time spent together consists of phone calls and Face Time. I don’t think distance matters. We are closer than most people who see each other in person everyday. Today the youngest boy was a little upset that his Mama had paid a compliment to his older brother and not one to him. It’s a big “no no” in both of our homes to show favoritism to any child over another. So I can promise you that this little brother was not feeling less loved than his big brother. It’s human nature for people to be competitive and it’s something I have never been very fond of participating in. I’m a lover of sports but even a team works TOGETHER. When you lose you shake hands and say good game. When you win you shake hands and say good game. That’s a lesson I took with me into life. So seeing an opportunity to teach this to my God Sons I asked their Mama to put them on the phone. I have told them plenty of times before that a God Mother’s job is to teach you good things and to help guide you in the right direction. Like a back up to Mom and Dad. So I said: 
“Alright boys I need to tell you something and it’s really important. There are enough blessings to go around. You will never run out. God has given us more blessings than we can ever use up. If you see someone who has something you want or a life you wish you had. There is no reason for you to compete with them. You can make someone a role model if you wish but you can’t make them an enemy. So when you see someone who has the best toy, coolest dog, nicest car, the best friends or is just beautiful you should feel happy for them. Know that you too will have all the best things that God has planned for you. When someone is blessed it doesn’t take away from you. There is enough good for everyone. Greed will bring you only temporary success. There are consequences for those who are ungrateful and have a hardened heart. If you do what is right and you help others then one day you will have more blessings than you ever wanted. More than you thought you deserved. Now I am not saying you won’t have to wait for it or you won’t have to work for it. But you will have all you need and I promise you that boys. So never feel jealous of what another has. There is enough for us all. Does that make sense?”
